Compatibility Study

The development of the Hillsboro Airport Compatibility Study looked for ways to make the airport more compatible with the surrounding community. The first step of the process involved two, half-day Technical Advisory Group (TAG) meetings where committee members considered and evaluated key elements of land use and airport operations. The study, which was last updated in 1993, was revised to reflect recent master plan changes and to address community concerns about land use, aircraft operations and noise.

Two technical advisory groups (TAGs) advised the Port on the Compatibility Study. The Airport Operations TAG provided input and comments on issues that related to operations management tools such as preferred runway use, pilot training, ground run-up activities, and arrival and departure procedures. The Land Use TAG provided input and comments on issues that related to zoning, rezoning, acquisition, easements, and noise disclosure programs.

The final Hillsboro Airport Compatibility Study Update (Final) report has been completed. The public comment period ended Friday, October 12, 2005. A final version of the report and its summary will be available in the near future.
